Home Assistant is a free and open-source software for home automation. It serves as a smart home platform that allows you to control and customize various devices like light bulbs, switches, and thermostats. Unlike other platforms, it focuses on local control and privacy. It acts as a universal translator for your smart home setup, enabling you to create powerful automations and manage all your devices from a single location.

I'm using devices from various manufacturers and using Home Assistant I can integrate them all in a single dashboard and automate them from a single application. I don't need multiple apps on my phone anymore. As long as there is an integration for Home Assistant it just works.
